About Wagner

I started in network engineering around 2000, keeping infrastructure running years before I ever called myself a developer. That grounding stuck: I've always cared more about how a system behaves under real load than how it looks in a demo. It pulled me into web development, and web development pulled me into leading engineering teams.

By 2010 I was a Senior Web Developer at TalkTalk, building at the scale a national telecoms company demands. Two years later I went independent, working as a full-stack consultant. One of those projects was a SaaS invoicing product I built and eventually sold, my first taste of owning something end to end, from first commit to exit.

In 2015 I took on my biggest role yet: Head of Engineering at a financial-advice SaaS platform in a heavily regulated industry. Over the next nine years I grew the engineering function from a handful of people to more than twelve, with retention north of 90%. I led a full migration to cloud-native AWS infrastructure that took uptime to 99.95%, built the CI/CD pipeline that let us release daily, and directed the company's ISO 27001 certification. More recently I designed OpenAI-powered RAG tooling and AI agents that lifted the team's productivity by around 25%.

The company was later acquired by Brown & Brown, an S&P 500 group, where I still help lead AI adoption today. Working inside a large, regulated business has shown me first-hand what it really takes to get AI trusted and running in production, not just demoed in a sandbox.

Tech Studio grew out of all of this. It's where I put 25 years of full-stack development, cloud architecture, and production AI delivery to work directly for founders and leadership teams, hands-on from day one. I advise, I lead, and I still write code every week.

I'm British and Brazilian by heritage, which is part of why Tech Studio has a footprint on both sides of the Atlantic. Off the keyboard I run and spend as much time outdoors as I can, I play music, and I'm a father, the role that puts everything else in perspective.
